Star Wars AU; the girl who came to play → Five-year-old Mara Jade is not very fond of the Organa princesses. Leia is a brat, and Winter hardly speaks. But the white-haired girl remembers everything, which interests Mara. There’s also the latent Force signature she can sense whenever all three girls are together, which interests the Emperor. Mara is grudgingly dispatched to Alderaan to scope Winter’s potential abilities and instead makes a shocking discovery about the heir to the Alderaan throne.

I loved this scene in the ESB novelization, because it sums up everything Leia means to me. Everyone she cares about is picking up their toys and heading to a different part of the playground and NO, NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE HER EVER AGAIN so she keeps throwing sand in their eyes to demonstrate her love and devotion and then she’s so confused as why they don’t like that and why they’re yelling at her and running to get the yard duty and now she has to go to detention and she draws crude pictures of what she thinks a penis looks like on all the desks. And that is why she is my favorite forever.
